THE NIGHT SERIES – Book One by Lisa Kessler
He gave up his soul for a second chance to love her… Two and a half centuries ago, Calisto Terana lost everything when a zealous priest murdered the woman he loved. Now, desperate for another chance to love her, he wants redemption for the mistake that cost her life. She’s haunted by dreams of her own death… After catching her fiance with another woman, Kate Bradley returns to San Diego to clear her head. The last thing she needs is romance, but after meeting Calisto she’s drawn to him in ways she doesn’t understand. They’ve waited in the shadows for centuries… Calisto has no doubt Kate is the reincarnation of his lost love, but the Fraternidad Del Fuego Santo has a new watcher with dark ambitions of his own. As old enemies reemerge and a new threat arises, the betrayal that enslaved Calisto to the night might destroy the only woman he’s ever loved again.

If you could be anything but a writer what would you want to be?

As an author have you ever been star struck by meeting one of your favorite authors? If so who was it? ;)  – Okay this is embarrassing to share, but one year when I attended BEA (Book Expo America) William Shatner was signing his latest book.  I waited in line, feeling completely normal.  But the moment it was my turn and I was standing across the table from Captain Kirk, my brain froze up!  I couldn’t say hello, and then I took a picture of his head while he signed my book!  *blush*  And it took me two steps before I realized I hadn’t said Thank You!  I turned around and thanked him and he looked at me like I was a nutcase.  Ah well… LOL

What were your favorite books growing up?

I had a few…  The Phantom Tollbooth, The Mystical Beast and all my books of Shel Silverstein poems!  I had lots of Where the Sidewalk Ends memorized! :)

What book/book series would you love to see be made into a movie?

There is a shark thriller series by Steve Alten that is SO amazing!  The first book is called Meg and it’s been optioned for a movie something like 8 times!  There is a scene in the book with a helicopter, watching the Megladon shark from the air…  It’ll take your breath away and I really really would LOVE to see it on the big screen someday! :)

What movie from a book was so bad you wish they hadn’t made it?

The Running Man.  I really loved Stephen King’s book, and if you haven’t read it, you should! J  It’s not a long one, but the books was suspenseful and fabulous and then I rented the movie and YIKES!!!  Arnold Schwarzenegger in yellow spandex and the announcer from Family Feud!!!  Schnikies!  It was barely recognizable from the book…  *cringe*

Do you have a playlist of songs you listen to when writing?

Always and it’s different depending on the book I’m writing…  Usually each character will have a theme song and there will be songs that are the mood and feel of the book.  I also use lots of movie soundtracks while I write.

Does your playlist change for every book or stay the same through the series? (if your writing a series)

Some of the songs stay.  Like all of my Night Series playlists all include Queen’s “Who Wants to Live Forever” and my werewolf series, all the books include a really cool song by a band called Sea Wolf…  The song is “You’re a Wolf”…  All my wolves have that on the playlist! LOL

Lisa Kessler spun a moving story that had me falling for the main character Calisto. You could feel his agony and pain over losing his love and having to wait centuries for her to be reborn. Kate hasn’t had it easy herself. Her whole life she has been haunted by dreams. Terrifying dreams of her own death. I loved reading the flashbacks scenes where we learn little by little more about what happened in the past so we could understand more of what they both went through.

Night walker is an enthralling paranormal romance that I just loved! I started this book and did not stop reading until I finished it! This book  had me turning the pages till the wee hours of the night! I had to know what was going to happen and I wasn’t disappointed! I can’t wait for book 2 Night Demon!
