He gave up his soul for a second chance to love her… Two and a half centuries ago, Calisto Terana lost everything when a zealous priest murdered the woman he loved. Now, desperate for another chance to love her, he wants redemption for the mistake that cost her life. She’s haunted by dreams of her own death… After catching her fiance with another woman, Kate Bradley returns to San Diego to clear her head. The last thing she needs is romance, but after meeting Calisto she’s drawn to him in ways she doesn’t understand. They’ve waited in the shadows for centuries… Calisto has no doubt Kate is the reincarnation of his lost love, but the Fraternidad Del Fuego Santo has a new watcher with dark ambitions of his own. As old enemies reemerge and a new threat arises, the betrayal that enslaved Calisto to the night might destroy the only woman he’s ever loved again.
If you could be anything but a writer what would you want to be?
As an author have you ever been star struck by meeting one of your favorite authors? If so who was it?
– Okay this is embarrassing to share, but one year when I attended BEA (Book Expo America) William Shatner was signing his latest book. I waited in line, feeling completely normal. But the moment it was my turn and I was standing across the table from Captain Kirk, my brain froze up! I couldn’t say hello, and then I took a picture of his head while he signed my book! *blush* And it took me two steps before I realized I hadn’t said Thank You! I turned around and thanked him and he looked at me like I was a nutcase. Ah well… LOL
What were your favorite books growing up?
I had a few… The Phantom Tollbooth, The Mystical Beast and all my books of Shel Silverstein poems! I had lots of Where the Sidewalk Ends memorized!
What book/book series would you love to see be made into a movie?
There is a shark thriller series by Steve Alten that is SO amazing! The first book is called Meg and it’s been optioned for a movie something like 8 times! There is a scene in the book with a helicopter, watching the Megladon shark from the air… It’ll take your breath away and I really really would LOVE to see it on the big screen someday!
What movie from a book was so bad you wish they hadn’t made it?
The Running Man. I really loved Stephen King’s book, and if you haven’t read it, you should! J It’s not a long one, but the books was suspenseful and fabulous and then I rented the movie and YIKES!!! Arnold Schwarzenegger in yellow spandex and the announcer from Family Feud!!! Schnikies! It was barely recognizable from the book… *cringe*
Do you have a playlist of songs you listen to when writing?
Always and it’s different depending on the book I’m writing… Usually each character will have a theme song and there will be songs that are the mood and feel of the book. I also use lots of movie soundtracks while I write.
Does your playlist change for every book or stay the same through the series? (if your writing a series)
Some of the songs stay. Like all of my Night Series playlists all include Queen’s “Who Wants to Live Forever” and my werewolf series, all the books include a really cool song by a band called Sea Wolf… The song is “You’re a Wolf”… All my wolves have that on the playlist! LOL

Lisa Kessler spun a moving story that had me falling for the main character Calisto. You could feel his agony and pain over losing his love and having to wait centuries for her to be reborn. Kate hasn’t had it easy herself. Her whole life she has been haunted by dreams. Terrifying dreams of her own death. I loved reading the flashbacks scenes where we learn little by little more about what happened in the past so we could understand more of what they both went through.
Night walker is an enthralling paranormal romance that I just loved! I started this book and did not stop reading until I finished it! This book had me turning the pages till the wee hours of the night! I had to know what was going to happen and I wasn’t disappointed! I can’t wait for book 2 Night Demon!
Lisa Kessler is an avid reader and writer of dark fiction. Fun interview and good review. I have to agree with Lisa that “Running Man” was one of the worst book to movie moves. I’ve never heard of Steve Allen’s thriller series so I’ll have to look it up. Lol at the book signing with William Shatner…I would probably act the same way…after all it is Capt. Kirk….lol….
Night Walker sounds like a good paranormal romance. Thanks for sharing and for the giveaway!
Hi Maria –
I’m so glad I wasn’t the only who saw Running Man and thought WHAT????? LOL
I’m glad Night Walker caught your eye! Thanks for commenting!

I have to admit that I haven’t read Running man, so I’ll put it on my to read list.
Oh definitely read The Running Man… It was a super book! But don’t watch the movie unless you want to laugh! It’s nothing like the book! LOL
Thanks for commenting!!! I’m so glad you enjoyed Night Walker!!! Watch out for Night Thief in September! Woot!

I love Stephen King, my favourite has to be Needful Things though. I have read Running Man & I agree completely, I tend to hate books to movies unless I see the movie before the book.
Have you put your playlists on your website? I’m all sorts of curious now and I have Queen singing in my head
The only Stephen King book that I thought the movie did it justice was Stand By Me… It was only a short story, but the movie stayed pretty true to it…
I put up the piano pieces that Calisto plays in the book on my website, but I haven’t posted the writing playlists… Hmmm….

Loved the interview! Where the Sidewalk Ends was a favorite of mine too. I think I even still have my copy of it somewhere. And don’t feel bad about freezing up in front of Capt. Kirk (so cool you got to meet him), I ran into a favorite band in Austin years ago and just stood next to them. I couldn’t make myself talk or take a picture. I just stood there. LOL I really really want to read Night Walker, I think it just moved to the top of my list.

Great interview! I haven’t seen The Running Man but I think most of the movies that I’ve seen that are based on Stephen King’s books were pretty awful except for Stand by Me and Misery.
That’s pretty awesome that you got a book signed by William Shatner! I met Amanda Palmer (Dresden Dolls) a couple of years ago at a university event and I pretty much froze when I went up to her to get my CD signed, I managed to get in a hi and thank you but I probably looked nervous as hell.
Nightwalker sounds like my kind of book. Thank you for the giveaway!
Oh I forgot about Misery!!! You’re right, that’s another good Stephen King adaptation… Did you ever see the TV miniseries they did for The Stand? That one was pretty good too!
Thanks for commenting Amy!!! I hope you enjoy Night Walker!

And hte guy who play Flagg is great!

Great interview. I’ve had this one on my wishlist since I first saw the cover and read the blurb. Thanks for the giveaway!
I think William Shatner is as versatile an actor as there is. I loved his performance on Rookie Blues recently.

Most book to movie translations suck. I think my husband just started tuning me out whenever I am Legend was brought up. He had heard my rant out them missing the entire point of the book too many time I think.

Oh I Am Legend is another one they royally messed up!!! It’s like they missed the point of the book and then made up a dumb point instead… ?? Lame!

Sorry, but I am still laughing over your “incident” with William Shatner (Capt Kirk). My family thinks I am nuts! I would probably do the same though.
Ha! It’s okay Kelly, I laugh about it now too… Yeesh did I ever feel dumb! LOL
And I swear my brain was fully functioning while I waited in line! LOL Oh well…
