Working the night shift at the sheriff's office has given Deputy Raine McCandless more than enough time to fantasize about the kind of man she'd like to take prisoner, so when she arrives home to find a sexy intruder waiting for her, she's pretty sure she must be dreaming.

But Dillon Taylor, with his stunning blue eyes and killer tan, is 100% real, just not 100% human. Half-man, half-angel, he'd love to answer every naughty prayer Raine has ever had. But Raine is in serious danger, and Dillon can only fulfill her every desire if he can keep her alive.

Karen, welcome to my Lily pad!! I am so happy to have you here today!!

First off tell us a bit about yourself!!

Thanks for inviting me back again! I’m thrilled to be here. I love anything that ends with rita—strawberry margarita, margarita on the rocks, frozen margarita. The list is endless. But I’m not a lush. I only drink with friends. Come to think about it, they might be lushes!

Smoking Hot is my 23rd book. I’ve written for Kensington, Berkley and Sourcebooks and met so many wonderful people along the way. I feel truly blessed. I’m not sure I would have continued pursing writing without the support of my family. This is a hard profession and there are a lot of bumps along the way. My advice to newbie writers is never give up your dream—or anyone for that matter. If you want to jump out of an airplane then don’t dream about it, do it. Set the goal, research the goal, plan how to achieve the goal, then write down the steps that will turn your dream into a reality. And don’t let anyone tell you that your goal can’t be reached. It can! Okay, stepping off my soapbox.

My wounded characters?

Raine is torn between a job she loves and her grandfather, the only relative she has left. She has to fight feelings of guilt because she misses patrolling the mean streets on Fort Worth’s North side. Taking care of Grandpa has to come first, though. She’d failed when her father turned to the bottle and drank himself into an early grave after her mother ran off. Raine won’t fail this time. Except crazy might run in her family when she comes home to find a sexy stranger who tells her that she’ll be killed during a botched robbery, then he disappears.

Even though this story has a nephilim (half man/half angel—who has a naughty side) I think readers will relate to the story as they watch Raine’s mental tug-of-war between family duty and her desire to return to the new life she built for herself. I think most people have dealt with family obligations.

Because Raine does the right thing I hope the reader will want to learn what happens and what choices she’ll make. I don’t really see her flaw as a weakness or a strength, but as a normal reaction. She’s the one who has to come to terms with her decisions.

What truly frightens my characters?

For Dillon it’s love. He loved once but when he wasn’t looking, she let a demon entice her to the dark side. The experience almost destroyed him. He’s sworn never to get involved with a mortal. But how can he let Raine die because of a botched robbery. He swears he’ll warn her, then the rest is up to her.

What would I advise my characters if I could?

Trust in your gut instinct. It will rarely steer you in the wrong direction. I think we should all trust in what we feel sometimes. Do you ever get a creepy feeling about someone and warning bells go off inside your head? What did you do?

Favorite food?

Mexican.

Favorite TV Show:

The Voice

Favorite Paranormal

I always love Serena for Bewitched because she was the naughty one.

Coffee, tea or Hot Chocolate?

A combo, Café Mocha (who says you can’t have it all?)

Favorite fruit?

Strawberry Mango Margarita (does that count as a fruit?)

Thank you so much for joining us on Froggarita’s Bookcase! We loved getting to know you better and hope you stop by again soon! ;)

Thanks so much for once again allowing me time in your space.

Happy Reading

Karen Kelley

Eden, welcome to my Lily pad!! I am so happy to have you here today!!

First off tell us a bit about yourself!!

Hi everyone. I’m Eden Summers, an Australian author who writes (mainly) contemporary and erotic romance. I live in regional New South Wales with my contract fireman hubby and my two young boys. I love everything about romance. There isn’t anything better in life than love.

 - If you could be anything but a writer what would you want to be?

A masseuse for the West Coast Eagles Australia Football League team. I have no skills in massage but damn, rubbing down those bodies and getting paid for it…heaven!

- As an author have you ever been star struck by meeting one of your favorite authors? If so who was it? ;)

Not yet! Living in regional NSW, Australia, I’ve never met another author. But that will all change when I go to the RWA conference in August. I’ve spoken to a lot via email and that was exciting enough. Cindy Gerard (who is one of my favorite authors) would have to be my most exciting online communication.

-  What were your favorite books growing up?

I honestly wasn’t much of a reader, but I fell in love with the Tomorrow When The War Began series. Apart from those stories, I don’t remember reading anything other than what I had to read for English studies.

-  What book/book series would you love to see be made into a movie?

Immortals After Dark by Kresley Cole, Lords of the Underworld by Gena Showalter, Black Dagger Brotherhood by J.R. Ward, Black Ops by Cindy Gerard, this list could go on forever.

- What is the hardest thing about being an author?

Researching sexy men to use as a visual for my characters. Hardest. Job. EVER. Lol. *wink*

- What is the best thing about being an author?

The community. I’ve made so many new friends, from crit partners, to bloggers, to fans. I’m blessed to be surrounded by a very supportive online family and that, by far, is the best part.

- Do you prefer to write during the day or during the night?

Definitely during the day. At night I’m wrecked. My kids, even if they’ve been at school all day, wear me out by the time they go to bed. My most productive writing is done during the day when I have an empty house.

- Tell us something about yourself you consider to be unique?

My eyes aren’t both the same color. They aren’t completely different either, but the top half on my left eye is different from the rest of my eye color and it changes shade all the time.

- If you had to describe yourself in 3 to 5 words what would they be?

Smart-ass, stressaholic, honest, respectful.

- Which do you prefer? twitter or facebook? Are you an active poster or active reader?

Facebook. I’m a pictures kinda gal. And I’m active on my page although when I’m busy and stressed my posts die down a little.

- Anything you would like to say to the readers reading this post?

Hey everyone, if you are a fan or sarcastic humor and love sexy rock stars, I hope you will give Blind Attraction a try. Thanks for taking the time to read this interview and I wish you all luck with the giveaway.

Here on my Lilypad we like to a quick fire round of questions…just for fun…so…

- Favorite Food?

Salad. I could eat salad all day if it has the right dressing.

- Favorite TV Show?

Scandal

- Favorite Paranormal? (witch, vampire, zombie etc)

Shifters

- Coffee, Tea or Hot Chocolate?

Ohh, coffee, coffee, coffee!

- Favorite Fruit or Veggie?

Mango

Thank you so much for joining us on Froggarita’s Bookcase! We loved getting to know you better and hope you stop by again soon! ;)

Manic & Giveaway

by Froggy on June 17th, 2013 at 12:00 AM
Posted In: Cover Reveal
Manic Manic by J. A. Huss
Series: Rook and Ronin #2
Published by Science Future Press on August 1st 2013
Genres: Adult Contemporary
Goodreads

TRAGIC is over and Rook is ready for the future—Spencer Shrike and the STURGIS contract!

It’s three months of body art modeling! That means three months of Spencer Shrike’s paintbrush all over her body, three months in front of Antoine’s camera, and three months of twenty-four hour filming for Spencer’s Biker Channel reality show.

Wait a minute…what reality show? Maybe she should’ve read that STURGIS contract a little closer? ;)

Sure, Rook’s bank account is almost overflowing, but Ronin is angry, Clare is trying to escape rehab, Antoine is a worried mess, and Elise is just trying to hold everyone together. Her new family is about to fall apart before she even gets the chance to enjoy them.

Add in a mysterious man from her past, a road trip to the famous Sturgis Motorcycle Rally, and a final show in front of the entire world where all her good are on display, and you’ve Manic—a new adult contemporary romance that will definitely make your summer sizzle!

About J. A. Huss

author_photo_JA_Huss200
J. A. Huss likes to write new adult books that make you think and keep you guessing. Her favorite genre to read is space opera, but since practically no one reads those books, she writes new adult science fiction, paranormal romance, contemporary romance, urban fantasy, and books about Junco (who refuses to be saddled with a label). She has an undergraduate degree in horses, (yes, really-Thank you, Colorado State University) and a master's degree in forensic toxicology from the University of Florida. She used to have a job driving around Colorado doing pretty much nothing but shooting the breeze with farmers, but now she just writes, runs the New Adult Addiction and Clean Teen Reads Book Blogs, and runs an online science classroom for homeschoolers.
